Flowers Make Me Happy

Flowers, in my favorite color, definitely make me happy.  As did the great company and live music that followed.
Being happy is proving to be pretty easy this February!

Sara Dating Tip for Men: Flowers while not necessary are ALWAYS appreciated by a woman and may just win you some bonus points!

Happy Hour Happenings #3: The Ice House

On Thursday I went, per usual, to Happy Hour with my coworkers.  This week we went to The Ice House on Brookpark Rd.  We went there two weeks ago as well but I didn't review so I'm combining my experiences into this post.

Now here's the dirt on The Ice House's Thursday Happy Hour:

Drink Deals:
Margaritas were on special for $2- they were small but decently strong.  I believe there were draft beer deals as well, but forgot to make note of exactly what they were.

Food Deals:
We all ordered their $1.50 tacos.  Oh so good.  They fry up their own tortillas for the shells and give you a choice between mild and hot.  I chose mild but heard that the hot aren't that hot and really just add a little jalapeno to the tacos.  One thing that I like about their tacos a lot is that they add fresh diced tomato instead of canned salsa.  I love tomato.  I think that these are my favorite tacos!

I have also ordered their beef hot dog- super big, juicy and delicious. One of the ladies I was with ordered a basket of fries and those were really delicious too.  Their prices on their whole menu are really reasonable and tastey!

The Atmosphere:
When we first got there the bar had only a few other customers.  A few hours later (we were there 4-8) the place filled up.  There was plenty of room though.  It seemed like the were short on servers and it took us quite awhile to get our bills.

Overall I really enjoy this spot and am sure I will be making more trips there.

What other Happy Hour spots should I try?!

Being Happy- The Power of Positive Thinking

At my job we do yoga with our students a few times a week.  At the end of each session we all repeat the following meditation:

May I be filled with loving-kindness
May I be well
May I be peaceful and at ease
May I be happy

After saying these words I always feel so calm so I'm hoping I can remember to repeat these words every morning and every evening to help center myself and to remind myself to be happy!

6/12 social activities have been attended!  Well on my way to my goal!

Being Happy- One Week In

The first week of February is drawing to a close and I'm happy to say I've made some progress on my February goal!

On Thursday, I went shopping and had dinner with my mom.  It was nice to spend some one on one time with her, and I found two awesome dresses for SUPER good deals!  Gotta love 70% off!

Then, on Saturday I helped set up and volunteered at a great charity event.  A group of lovely ladies from Lakewood put on the, "Dress Up Your Heart" cocktail party and fashion show at Around the Corner.  We featured designs by Valerie Mayen (from
project runway) and had a grand ol' time.  The event raised money for the Go Red For Women campaign and I believe, was a success.  (I'll do a bigger better post on this later.)

Tonight I'm going to my parents house to watch the Steeler's LOSE the Superbowl, and to see awesome commercials.

Tentatively I have dinner plans for Tuesday and Wednesday lined up.

Looks like by the end of this week I'll have at least 5 out of my 12 social events completed for the month!  And you know what, this keeping busy is definitely helping me with my mood.  Let's hope it continues!

Review: Tease Hair + Body Salon

I have crazy hair.  This has been the case for my entire life and it's been a battle.  From 8th grade till my sophomore year of college I went to the same stylist.  I trusted her with my hair and knew she wouldn't do anything horrible to it.  Unfortunately she moved on from the salon and I lost track of her.  Since then, i.e. the past 6 years, I have been trying different stylists each time I go to get my hair cut- which admittedly is no more than 2x a year.

Enter Tease Hair + Body Salon.  I've been feeling like I needed a haircut for awhile, but couldn't figure out where to go as I still hadn't found a new "go to" stylist.  So one day, while perusing Facebook an old friend from high school, Emily, had posted that she was working at a new salon and looking for customers.  I promptly asked her if she was good with curly/wavy hair and she said she loved it!  I figured why not try her out and a couple of weeks later booked an appointment.

Emily took my hair from a pretty shapeless mess to this:
Immediately following the cut!

2 weeks later- styled curly by me!
I have had very few knots in my hair- which is almost unheard of for me.  For $35 plus tip I think I got a great deal.  If you're looking for a great salon in Lakewood check out Tease!!

Be Happy via Etsy!

It's officially February so operation Be Happy is in full effect.  Let me tell you, the weather this morning made it very difficult to be happy!  But, one thing that I'm doing that's making me happy is getting my Etsy shop up and running.  I have two sets of note cards listed so far, and while I haven't sold anything (it's been less than a week) I have been featured on another user's list!

If you want to check out my shop, One Touch of Nature please do!  I hope that people find my prices fair, and my products high quality!  If you have any ideas for other nature inspired things I can make and sell please let me know.
